The Vitalium Medical Centre Health Centre got expanded with a sterile operating room that is suitable for ambulatory surgical treatments and makes it possible to perform these ambulatory (max. 24 hours) operations under local anaesthetic as well as awake sedation. The patients who get an ambulatory treatment – depending on the type of the procedure – can relax in our post-operative area under professional supervision.

The present gynaecological, operative procedures already enable today that the stay in the hospital lasting several days is shortened to a few hours. The gynaecological operations performed by us require professional supervision for some hours and after that, the patient can go home with their accompanying person on their own legs.

The requirements for the operative service

The day surgical treatment has legal requirements. Day surgical treatment can only be performed if the patient:

• is in good general condition, has at most a systemic disease that does not require post-operative supervision for more than 24 hours
• won’t expectedly need a blood transfusion because of the blood loss during the operation and will expectedly only have a minimum of pain
• in case of adults the independent and in case of children the care is secured at home, and
• informs us that
  • the living and hygienic conditions are appropriate
  • the treating medical institution can be reached – in case of average traffic – under 30 minutes from their place of residence by car (emergency doctor)
  • there is a phone in their place of residence
  • they are supervised during their transport home and in the following night of the operation, as well as there is the possibility to get to the appropriate medical institution if necessary
  • they agree to the operation in form of a day surgical procedure

The day surgical treatment in form of an operation cannot be performed if one of the following occurs:

• diseases that concern the cardiovascular and the vascular system
• metabolic diseases
• bleeding disorders, haemophilia
• untreated high blood pressure
• extreme overweight (when the body weight exceeds the weight appropriate for height by 35%)
